BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - Autumn burt scored 17 points off the bench, single-handedly taking over the game in the third quarter Wednesday evening, to lead Mullen to a 56-40 victory over Montrose in the class 4A state semifinals at the Coors Events Center.
The game was tied 29-29 with 4:55 remaining in the third period when burt converted a 3-point play that sparked an 11-0 run in which she accounted for every point.
The 5'5" sophomore capped the spurt with a basket underneath with 1:07 left in the third, and Mullen had a 40-29 advantage.
Montrose (24-3), a no. 1 seed from the Western Slope, could come no closer the rest of the way.
Top-seeded Mullen (23-4) from Denver will play the winner of the Fossil Ridge-Broomfield game Friday for the class 4A State Championship.
