Olympics Could be in Local Athlete's Future

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo - Whether it's to play in the big leagues, or be the next Michael Jordan, every little boy and little girl across the country has a dream. For one local Grand Valley girl her dream of being an Olympic soccer player has taken one step forward.

Elie Borzsich is a 12-year-old goalkeeper for the "Fire FC Premier" youth soccer team. She has recently been selected to Colorado's '96 Gilrs Olympic Development Program. Her coach, Alex Chaffetz, is excited about where this first step could take Elie.

Where it definitely will take her is to the statewide level of tyrouts for the Olympic Development Program. From there it could take her to the U.S. Olympic soccer team.

Elie doesn't have a roster spot for 2016 locked up just yet. But she says she knows exactly what it will take to get there. And as Elie works to prove that she belongs on the National team, she'll have plenty of support from her teammates and family here at home.

Playing goalie carries the most pressure on the team. But Elie thrives on pressure and the prospect of team USA depending on her.

Elie's legal name is Elie Bardi, not Elie Borzsich. Please print a retraction.
