ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Mesa State women's golf team finished third at the Mustang Intercollegiate on Tuesday - the Mavs first tournament of the spring.
The Mavs finished with a two-day team score of 664 (337 and 327) at the Los Altos Golf Course in Albuquerque and were led by freshman Jennifer Hilts' tournament total of 15 over par (78, 85), and senior Sadie Peavler's two-day score at 16 over par (86, 78). Freshman Jessica Berve stayed consistent with a score of 17 over par (84, 81).
Wayland Baptist won the tournament with a team score of 627. Lubbock Christian finished in second with a score of 646. The Mavs placed higher than any other Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference school at the Mustang Intercollegiate.
Mesa State's Afton Balling finished the tournament with scores of 89 and 83, and Brittani White shot 101 and 97 on the two days of the tournament.
Wayland Baptist’s Charlotte Guilleux won the tournament finishing well ahead of the rest of the field at eight strokes under par (69, 71).
