Fruita Baseball Beats Montrose

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo - The Fruita Monument baseball team was supposed to play at Montrose on Friday. Poor weather conditions forced the game to be rescheduled and relocted to Canyon View Park on Saturday. The Wildcats took full advantage of playing on their home field.

Fruita Monument trailed 1-0 in the third inning before jumping out to a 4-1 lead. All four runs came with 2 outs in the bottom of the inning, started by a ball hit deep to right center by Alex Mende. The right fielder botched the catch and the the TJ Pollock tied the game at 1.

After the third inning the Wildcats added two more runs and played just enough defense to hold on for a 6-5 win over the Indians.
