GRAND JUNCTION, Colo - The Mesa state softball team finished the regular season 19-15 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Not great, but certainly not bad either when you consider that they started they season by losing nine of their first 12 conference games.

The RMAC postseason tournament begins this weekend and the Mavericks say they are relaxed and confident. That attitude, according to Head Coach Kris Mort, is the reason that Mesa won 10 of their last 12 games.

She says the team really turned the corner this season when they stopped pressuring themselves so much about winning and losing and got back to having fun.

Funny how much easier it is to have fun when you are winning. But now it's win or go home.

Mesa State is the #6 seed in the double elimination RMAC tournament. They begin the tourney at Metro State against #3 seed Colorado School of Mines on Thursday morning at 9:30.
