DENVER (AP) - The Colorado Avalanche have signed defenseman Brett Skinner and forward Philippe Dupuis, who played in eight games for the team the past season.

The Avalanche recalled 24-year-old Dupuis from the Lake Erie Monsters twice last season. The Laval, Quebec, native led Lake Erie in points (46) and assists (29) in 67 games.

Twenty-six-year-old Skinner made his NHL debut during the 2008-09 season, appearing in 11 games for the New York Islanders. The Brandon, Manitoba, native spent most of the season in the American Hockey League, totaling 35 points in 61 combined games with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and Chicago Wolves.

Skinner played three seasons at the University of Denver, where he was a member of the school's back-to-back national championship teams in 2004 and 2005.
