Officials with the Youth Baseball League of New Haven say they will disband Scott's team because his coach won't stop him from pitching. GRAND JUNCTION, Colo - The Grand Mesa major boys little league All-Star team beat Montrose on Sunday to force a title-clinching game. On Monday Grand Mesa broke a 4-4 tie in the top of the third inning and never looked back on their way to the Championship.
Cole Rupe played an outstanding game, hitting a 2-run home run to deep center field that scored Skyler Hancock and put Grand Mesa up 6-4.
In the top of the fourth inning Rupe hit a ball that just missed clearing the fence in left and drove in Hancock and Jeremy Champlain for a 2-RBI single. At that point the score was 9-5.
With two outs and Grand Mesa leading 10-6 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Rupe threw strike three looking to seal the victory and give Grand Mesa the District-1 title. They will now advance to the State tournament.
