Grand Mesa Wins State (Again)

** CORRECTS NAME OF YOUTH LEAGUE ** Jericho Scott, 9, warms up on the pitching mound in New Haven, Conn. Saturday Aug. 23, 2008. Officials with the Youth Baseball League of New Haven say they will disband Scott's team because his coach won't stop him from pitching. They say his hard throws may frighten other players in the baseball league for beginners. (AP Photo/Douglas Healey).

The Grand Mesa major boys little league All-Stars have won the State championship. That makes three teams that Grand Mesa will send to the Southwest Regionals.

The major boys defeated North Boulder 9-3 on Friday to win the State championship. They join the Grand Mesa senior boys and the major girls as State champions. All three teams will travel to Waco, Texas for next weekend's Southwest Regional tournament.

Advancing from that tournament would earn the teams a spot in the Little League World Series.
