Grand Junction girls soccer team brings home Denver Cup

A Grand Junction girls soccer team has brought home more than just memories after a tournament on the Front Range over the weekend, they brough home a championship cup!

The Grand Junction Soccer Club's U11 Girls Premier team played in Denver over the weekend in the Denver Cup, one of Colorado's premier soccer tournaments. The event was hosted by the Colorado Nike Rush.

Club officials say the U11 Girls finished with three wins and two ties to win the championship agains Colorado Real. Coaches say the team had strong play from all its members but especially from its devensive players and goal keeper.

The team yielded only two goals in its five games.

Club officials say the U11 Girls Premier team will play their games in the Colorado Youth Soccer league traveling to the Front Range for 9 of its 18 games this falll and spring.
