GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - The Mesa State men's soccer team opened the 2009 season with a tie after two overtimes against Adams State at Walker Field 2-2 on Thursday night.
Mesa State's Danny Westcott scored the opening goal in the 27th minute of the game, but less than two games later David Powers scored the equalizer for Adams State.
Peter Freeman gave Adams State the 2-1 lead in the 52nd minute with a header off the corner kick into the far post.
It wasn't until the 77th minute that Mesa State finally tied the game. Ryan McClanahan scored on the cross from Mike Eaton for the final goal of the game.
