GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) - Sophomore Michael Bear gathered a loose ball with just under three minutes to go and converted it into a layup to give Mesa State the lead for good as the Mavericks hung on to beat the Roadrunners 61-56 in the final game of the Clarion Inn Thanksgiving Classic at Brownson Arena on Saturday night.

Mesa State (4-0) led by as many as 15 points in the first half, but saw that lead disappear midway through the second half when the Roadrunners took a 48-46 lead on an A.J. Flournoy bucket with just under six minutes to play.

The Mavs tied the game moments later when Mike Dominguez knocked down a three-pointer from the left wing. Dominguez led Mesa State with 15 points. Jase Herl added 8 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists.

Reggie Evans led Metro State (3-1) with 20 points.

The Mavericks don't play again until December 4th, when they open up conference play against Colorado Christian University in Lakewood. Their next home game isn't until December 12th against Regis.

Highlights and post-game reaction coming soon!
