GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- After eight successful years, John Arledge was removed as head coach of the Palisade football team on Thursday.
According to a statement released by Palisade High School, Arledge was "released from his football coaching contract."
Arledge amassed a 69-25 record over eight years as the head coach, and he never missed the playoffs.
"We felt a change was needed at this time," read the school's statement released on Thursday.
"Our school and the community of Palisade owe Coach Arledge a substantial debt of gratitude," said Palisade Athletic Director Mike Krueger.
Krueger added that a timeline for the hiring of a new head coach has not been established yet.
