GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- Ben Garland attended his first NFL Training Camp with the Broncos in 2010.
When it came time to decide between pursuing an NFL career or serving in the Air Force, Garland chose the latter since he earned his degree at the Air Force Academy.
Come 2012, Ben Garland is back at Dove Valley trying to earn his spot on the final 53-man roster for the Denver Broncos.
"Being back in Colorado, just being back on the Broncos, I'm so happy to be here," Garland told KKCO 11 Sports Director Phil Stafford.
As a defensive lineman, Garland will have his chance to go against Peyton Manning, and it's something he's looking forward to.
"You want to go against the best and you know he's going to get that ball out fast, so you got to get there quick," Garland said. "You have to stay away from him to keep him healthy, but we love going against him because he's the best."
This hasn't been the easiest summer for Garland, though. His grandparents lost their home in the Waldo Canyon Wildfire that ripped through Colorado Springs.
"With the Broncos, the [National] Guard, friends and family, everyone's come together to support us. So we love being a part of this community and getting all that support really helped us through a tough time."
Garland is wearing number 63 during camp.
