GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The nine runs delivered by No. 13 Colorado Mesa in the first inning against Metro State set the tone for the rest of the evening as the home team went on to take a 13-4 win.

Seniors Garrett Carpenter and Austin Kaiser add three runs a piece while Jordan Liester did his part as the designated hitter with four RBI.

From the mound, Matt Delay worked toward his fourth win of the season. He went through 5.2 innings, giving up four runs, but the Mavericks offense kept him safe, and he improved to 4-0.

Colorado Mesa and Metro State meet again Saturday at 1:00 for a doubleheader. CMU is currently 17-0 at home in 2014.
