GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. In just the fourth year of program history for the CMU women's lacrosse team, they've made huge strides and have put together the best season they've seen to date.
The last three years, the Mavericks have had four, three, and four wins each season respectively, but in their regular season finale Saturday night, they could end things with eight, their first ever winning record and RMAC tournament berth.
Led by Lexie Chavez and Haley Kroll's three goals apiece, the Mavs took a 5-5 halftime score and put enough distance between them and the Grizzlies to come out with the 12-9 win. Lauren Wells had six saves in the cage.
CMU finishes with its best record in program history at 8-6 and have earned a bid to the RMAC tournament, which will begin May 2 in Denver.
