GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- The Colorado Mesa Mavericks gave the 24th ranked team in the country some trouble on Thursday night.

The Lady Mavs lost the first two games to the Grand Canyon 'Lopes, but the home team didn't call it quits then.

Rather, CMU battle back for 25-20, 25-13 wins in the third and fourth games.

In the final game, the Mavs had a chance to tie it at 20s, but a long, cross-court hit sailed out of bounds, and the Antelopes snuck away with a three-games-to-two victory.

"I'm just proud that we fought back," CMU head coach Dave Flemming said after the match.
"[Grand Canyon] is 24th in the country for a reason, but I think we proved tonight that we can compete with those type of teams."
