GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- The CMU Student-Athlete Advisory Council demonstrated the kindness and care of the holiday season to its fullest on Wednesday.
A group of student-athletes donated a dozen hand-crafted blankets to the patients of the emergency department at Community Hospital.
It was gesture that isn't taken for granted.
"Anything that will help warm [the patients] up, especially something that's hand-made and donated from the community means a lot," emergency physician Marc Breen said.
The group of students made the blankets on Sunday and junior Rachel Boothe of the Mavs softball team realizes that this means a great deal to the hospital's patients.
"I would challenge people to [echo the groups efforts] and to try to help out those that need just a little extra warmth and comfort through the seasons," Boothe said.
