GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- The NCAA awarded Colorado Mesa their bid to host a Div. II super regional for women's golf in the spring of 2013.
CMU's athletic events coordinator, Jermaine Williams told KKCO 11 Sports on Tuesday that the university has submitted a handful of bids to host national championships for sports such as women's lacrosse and swimming.
Those bids, unfortunately, haven't been successful. But when a spot opened up for CMU and Tiara Rado Golf Course as a host site for a women's golf super regional, Williams jumped at the opportunity.
"To have the ability to get a super regional championship here in Grand Junction to show the NCAA what we can do, bodes well for us in the future," Williams said.
The tournament will take place May 5-7 of 2013. Tickets will be on sale for the event as it draws near.
