GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The Grand Junction Rockies returned home Wednesday night for the start of a four-game series against the Idaho Fall Chukars. Carlos Polanco got the start and led his team to the 7-2 win, his fifth of the season.

After both pitchers started the game with some heat, the scoring got started in the top of the second. Pedro Gonzalez blooped one to shallow left field for an easy RBI single, but the Rockies had a quick response, tying the game following an Idaho Falls error.

The Rockies then flipped rolls, taking the 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third. Max George hit a sac fly that scored Wilson Soriano. Then in came the Chukars with a game-tying run in the top of the fifth. That would be the last word heard from the visitors as Polanco get them quiet through his final two innings on the mound, while Craig Schlitter and Alec Crawford finished them out, allowing no runs.

Meanwhile Grand Junction added another five runs in the game for the 7-2 win. Luis Jean led the way on offense with three hits, three RBI and two runs, including his first home run of the season.

Grand Junction improves to 2-2 and plays Idaho Falls again Thursday night at 7:05.
