GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- Abby Kochevar, a Team Colorado simmer, wanted to make a statement in Grand Junction during the 2012 Western Zone Age Group Swimming Championships.

She can now call herself a record-setting swimmer.

Kochevar broke the Western Zone's record Wednesday morning for the prelims of the 50-meter freestyle with a 27.05-seconds run.

Then in the finals, she one-upped herself setting another record by swimming the length of the pool in 26.88 seconds.

Ethan Dang of the Pacific Swimming Team also set a record at the El Pomar Natatorium on day two of the Zones. Dang swam the 10-and-under 100M breast-stroke in 1:09.08.
