GJ Rockies: Five-run lead can't pull Rockies into win over Chukars

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KKCO) The Grand Junction Rockies were quick to get on the board, tacking on four runs in the first inning. On defense they were unstoppable, going three up, three down in the first four innings, but they couldn't stop a rally from the Idaho Falls Chukars.

Blake Shouse put out a stellar performance. He would pitch five innings allowing just one hit and no runs. When he hit the dugout, Idaho Falls woke up, adding three runs in the sixth and eventually tying the game at five.

After Grand Junction came up empty in the top of the ninth, the Chukars had one last chance to take the game without going into extras, and they capitalized. They scored the winning run off an overthrow at first for the 6-5 victory.

The teams will meet again Thursday night at 7:15.
