GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) Sitting in the stands never really gives fans a true taste of what players are like off the field. The guy who is always quiet and stone-faced in the game could be the biggest jokester when those stadium lights go off, but one athlete who is known to lead on and off the field is outfielder Jordan Patterson.
Tuesday he was nominated by the Grand Junction Rockies players as the "best teammate".
Though it may not come with national recognition or a big fat check, out of nearly 40 athletes it's certainly an accomplishment and proof that the 21-year-old out of South Alabama is not only a top-notch player but a standout guy.
"From what I've experienced in college, the routine I've gone through, I try to be a mentor to them and teach them stuff that I went through so they don't make the same mistakes I did," said Patterson. "So it's just kind of a learning process for them to let them develop more as a player."
