GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- David Dahl's first homer at Suplizio Field wasn't enough to earn the GJ Rockies (COL) their first win of the second half.
The Orem Owlz countered every punch by the Rockies and landed the knockout shot in the top of the ninth. A two-run dinger from Joel Capote was enough room for Orem to shutdown the struggling Rockies, 7-4.
Ryan Warner started the game for Grand Junction and couldn't get out of the first inning without trouble. Micheal Snyder's RBI-single to left in the top of the first got the Owlz out in front early.
Warner only lasted 3.0 innings, and Alving Mejias was left to take care of 4.0 innings of relief. Mejias registered the loss, but only gave up one run between the fourth and seventh innings. Jesse Meaux surrendered the two-run shot by Capote in the ninth. Meaux worked 2.0 innings, giving up three runs on four hits.
The Rockies are now 0-3 to start the second half of the season. Wednesday's game is slated for a 7:05pm start.
