GJHS loses first game in shootout

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) While the Grand Junction Tigers entered with a better record (3-0) than their Saturday night opponents Ralston Valley (2-1), they knew they were in for their toughest game yet.

The Mustangs beat the Tigers 23-15 on their own turf last year, and were hoping to go two-for-two.

In a game that was an absolute shootout, the key difference was the defense.

Both teams are very well coached and have explosive offensives, but the Mustangs were able to make key stops, while the Tigers struggled with missed tackles for the majority of the night.

Grand Junction also allowed two kickoff returns to go for touchdowns.

They continue to put up a ton of points, but the Mustangs came to town and knock off the Tigers 66-45.

Both teams now have records of 3-1.

Grand Junction will play their homecoming game against Mountain Range on Friday September 20 at 7:00 PM at Stocker Stadium.
