GJ Rockies drop exhibition game to Greeley

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- The GJ Rockies' first appearance in Suplizio will be one that's soon forgotten.

The Rockies held a two-run lead over the Grays heading into the final inning. Jesse Meaux was on the mound for the Rox, but he could not keep the Grays in their cage.

With the bases loaded, Tyler Wallace singled through the hole on the left side, scoring the tying runs for the Grays. In the very next at bat, Bryan Tibbitts smashed a double to the wall in right, scoring two more runs and giving Greeley the final lead of the night, 9-7.

In the bottom of the ninth, Rockies' right-fielder, Julian Yan, crushed his second homer of the night to cut the lead to one run, 9-8. But, that was all the Rox could muster.

Grand Junction starts their inaugural season on the Western Slope on Monday at the Ogden Raptors.
