GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- Ryan Garvey was extremely grateful to find out that his left hand wasn't fractured on Wednesday night against the Orem Owlz.
In the third inning on Wednesday, Garvey took an inside fastball to the side of his left hand. "I wasn't sure what to think when it first hit me," Garvey told KKCO 11 Sports' Phil Stafford on Thursday.
The Rockies 33rd-round selection in this year's draft immediately left the game and went to a nearby hospital to get x-rays.
The news was good: no fracture, just a deep bruise. Garvey said he'll need to ice the hand about three times a day and keep it wrapped, but he expects to be out of action for about a week.
"I'm so thankful that it didn't hit my wrist," he said. He's also fortunate that it's a minor injury to his non-throwing hand.
