GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- Heading into the 6th inning, Gene Taylor's baseball club was not on the favorable end of a 7-1 score.

Palisade-grad Tate Herland entered the game for his first appearance this summer after suffering a fracture in this left wrist (non-throwing hand). Herland accomplished his task by getting three straight outs.

In the bottom of the sixth, Taylor's loaded the bases on singles. With two out, Marcus Wirth drove in the first run of the inning with a single to center. After Longmont walked in the next run, Tristan Lafferty singled through the left side, scoring two runs and making it a 7-5 Longmont lead.

Former Fruita Wildcat, Drew Bridges, then stepped up with a deep fly ball to center field. The ball dropped in the gap, allowing Bridges to reach third standing up and scoring the tying runs.

Taylor's scored the go-ahead run before the end of the inning and they tacked on insurance runs in the seventh.

Taylor's and Longmont will play a double-header on Saturday at 1pm.

All games are at Canyon View Park.
