GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- If all goes according to plan, the third annual USA Pro Cycling Challenge will make a stop in Grand Junction.
A group of community leaders submitted a bid to the Pro Challenge's headquarters on Friday to host a stage of the 2013 race.
Barbara Bowman of the Vistor and Conventions Bureau in Grand Junction says it took two years of planning to complete a bid for the race.
The city of Montrose was the starting point of stage two of the 2012 race.
Bowman hopes that will encourage the race's organizers to look fondly upon Grand Junction's bid.
Local leaders expect an decision on Grand Junction's bid by the middle of December.
