GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The Grand Junction Tigers are getting ready for the start of a new season.
This Thursday they get their first look at a game scenario when they face 4A's Pueblo Central in some non-conference action.
The Lady Tigers are coming off a 19-5 season in which they made their way into the 2nd round of the playoffs. When it came to league play they were one of three teams that finished 8-2, with the ultimate title going to Fruita Monument after falling in the head-to-head match up that closed out the regular season.
This year they're ready to step it up a notch. The Tigers return with the same team just with an extra year of experience under their belts and they've already set their goals.
"Come out playing as a team, work hard on defense, put up our shots on offense, excel on the court, and it all starts at practice so have our heart at practices," said senior Madison Marsh.
"The biggest goal's to improve from last year," said head coach Sam Provenze. "We want to do better at the state level than we did last year, we want to do better at the league level than we did last year. We'd like to be back on top and not have to share that top spot with two other teams. Everybody wants to be the best all the time."
