HS Football: Central continues skid against Dakota Ridge

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) It's been a difficult half of the season for first year head coach Shawn Marsh and the Central Warriors, but they continue to fight hard week in and week out regardless of their record.

Saturday night at Stocker they hosted the 2-2 Dakota Ridge Eagles hoping to notch one in the win column.

The Eagles scored first just a few minutes into the game when all-state tailback Aaron Nelson rushed up the middle and scored from four yards out.

That was followed by a 62-yard screen pass to Nelson which made it 13-0.

It was 20-0 when Central quarterback Wyatt McElwain had some pressure but was able to release a perfect pass down the sideline to receiver Joseph Heinrich who hauled it in and ran the rest of the way for the 57-yard touchdown pass.

That cut the lead down to just 13 points.

The Eagles came back and had too much offense, however.

It was 48-7 going into halftime so there was a running clock for some of the second half.

Warriors got another touchdown and didn't allow another point in the final two quarters, but fall to Dakota Ridge 48-14.
