GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) The Central Warriors are trying to stay afloat early in the season. They've only been able to put up 7 points in each of their first two games, while defensively allowing over 40 to their opponent.
This week they play D'evelyn - a front range team that has averaged 34 points per game. Though it's not yet a league game, they'll be able to use it to work through a brand new system under a completely new coaching staff.
KKCO 11 Sports spoke with the coordinators in charge on both sides of the ball to find out what needs to be done to see a change in the right direction.
"We're worried about ourselves," said offensive coordinator Phil Johnston. "What we need to do is we need to quit making mistakes that kill drives, quit making mistakes that put the ball on the ground, and honestly it's just worrying about ourselves and taking care of what we can control."
"We're really working on tackling and pursuing to the ball, that's our biggest concern right now, being able to tackle and get to the ball," said defensive coordinator Darrell Simonton.
