GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) On Tuesday, head coach of the Cedaredge Bruins football team Brandon Milholland was named the High School Coach of the Week by the Denver Broncos.

One week ago the Bruins lost their teammate Reid Gates to a tragic accident involving carbon monoxide poisoning, while another teammate, Tyler Cooper, and friend, Aaron Henrie remained hospitalized.

Just five days after the initial incident the Bruins came together to play in their home opener opposite the Dolores Bears. They finished with a shutout 42-0 victory with Coach Milholland leading them every step of the way.

The Denver Broncos will recognize 10 high schools coaches throughout the regular season with each honoree receiving $2,000 for their football program. At the end of the season a High School Coach of the Year will be selected and presented with a $4,000 donation for the program as well as be honored at the Broncos December 12th home game.
