HS Football: Fruita enters into final regular season game

By  |

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) One team in the Southwestern League will be closing out their regular season in a tough game against 4A's 7th-ranked Durango Demons.

The Fruita Monument Wildcats have had an up-and-down season filled with big wins and disappointing losses. While they stood right on the edge of the wild card standings after week six (at number 32), a loss against Montrose dropped them down to number 40, with a slim chance of making it into the post-season.

Either way, going out of the regular season on a high note is their biggest focus, and for the seniors on the team, it's going to be an emotional night.

"It's heart felt," said senior quarterback Jacob Lynch. "It's a big game for our seniors. It's senior night tomorrow night, and we want to give us seniors a good last home game which could be our last home game."

"I've been playing with these guys my whole life," said senior wide receiver Brandon Kubic. "I'm going to miss them, [it's my] last game with them for the regular season, just sad it's going to be over."

Fruita faces Durango Friday night at Stocker Stadium at 7:00 PM.
