GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) The Fruita Monument Wildcats will face one of their toughest tests yet when they line up across from the number one ranked team in 4A - the Montrose Indians - on Friday night.
Fruita comes in with a well-balanced approach, averaging just over 165 receiving yards and 170 rushing yards per game.
On defense they've put out 19 sacks and 9 interceptions while averaging 77 tackles per game, and they'll have their work cut out for them against a team that keeps the ball on the ground the majority of the game, rushing over 360 yards each night.
"They're a pretty strong run," said senior Juston Erekson. "We're going to have to have a pretty strong defense to stop them at the scrimmage line, so that's what we're looking forward to, having a strong defense and pushing them back. "
"The main thing we've got to do is eliminate all our mistakes, said senior Cody Maston. "If we eliminate all the penalties...all the little things because it adds up after awhile."
Fruita Monument travels to Montrose for a game Friday night at 7:00 PM.
