FRUITA, Colo. It's still very young in the spring season, including girls soccer, and the Wildcats are off to a pretty good start with two games in the books under new head coach Jeff Shuldener.
Now they're set to head off to the Air Academy tournament where they'll see some non-conference front-range teams.
Shuldener was brought in just about two months ago to help push this team back to the top of the standings after going just 9-7-1 last season, and it looks like things are heading in the right direction.
A lot of times you'll see a new coach come in and it becomes a rebuilding period, but that's not the case here, and they're looking forward not only to the weekend tournament, but conference play as well.
"Any of the top four or five teams in the conference could take first," said Shuldener, "and it's just a matter of who comes to play on certain nights and gets the big goals when they need them."
