HS Softball: Central happy to be back in the tournament

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) The Central High School softball team was disappointed at about this time each of the last two years, but in 2013, they can be happy knowing they played well enough to earn a spot in the regional tournament October 12.

The Warriors were seeded 25th in Region Two, and will play number eight seed Brighton in their first match-up Saturday morning.

The other two teams in the bracket are Eaglecrest and Chaparral.

They must win two of the three games in order to advance to the State Tournament.

"They're getting more confidence that they don't have to hit the ball out of the yard," head coach Scott Else said of the Warriors' recent hitting. "All they have to do is get a base hit and with out speed, we can score a couple runs. So I think we're getting better and key hits in key situations."

They play at 10 a.m. at the Bright Youth Sports Complex in Brighton, CO.
