GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- The Lady Mavs softball team makes their Bergman Field debut on Saturday and Sunday versus Black Hills State.

CMU is 3-0-1 after their conference-opening series against New Mexico Highlands one week ago.

First year head coach of the Mavericks, Candace Abrams, says the team still has a statement to make to the rest of the conference by the play this upcoming weekend. However, protecting the home field is Coach Abrams biggest concern.

"I stress to them more than anything that when you're at home, protect home, and you win at home," Abrams said during practice on Thursday.

The Mavs and Yellow Jackets will play doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday at Bergman field.
