GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- Surprisingly enough, as a young girl, Jennie Finch says she never went to a softball camp like the one she hosts now across the country.

Finch loves taking time to share her knowledge and enhance the skills of the next-generation players.

"It's not about being an Olympic player, it's being the best you can be," Finch said on Monday in a phone conversation with KKCO 11 Sports' Phil Stafford.

"It's nice to encourage young girls to find their gifts and run with it. To be the best they can be, whether it be on the field or in the classroom."

Finch will be in Grand Junction on August 4th and 5th to host her first camp on the Western Slope.

Participants must register online prior to the camp. Registration is available on Finch's website,
