GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - From the moment Aubree Andre stepped foot onto the mats at Tunget Gymnastics, she was in her element. And Aubree was not the only one that felt that way.

"The minute I saw her I was like 'yeah, she's got a lot of talent and a very compettive spirit," says Tunget Gymnastics owner and coach Brenda Tunget.

Three years ago, Aubree's father decided to put her into gymnastics for some summer fun, and it quickly changed to a year-long stint.

She made it to the state level every year since 2010, and this year she took 1st in vault and beam, and took 2nd in bars and overall.

But Aubree does more than just gymnastics. She downhill skis, plays softball, soccer, and numerous other sports; but gymnastics is purely her passion.

"As a grandparent, to see your grandchild up there on the podium, getting first place, second place overall, is amazing," says Aubree's grandfather Ron Austin. "I can't even describe what it feels like as a grandparent."

Though she was shy on camera, she certainly was not shy on the floor. She pulled off combinations and stunts while making it look easy as cake. As for her future, only time will tell what is to come.

"I think every child and every parent's dream would be the Olympics," says her mother Toni Andre. "We'll see what happens in 2020."

Way to go, Aubree! And what a testimony to family participation in a child's path in life.

My niece is in tungets and I am so proud of her. I love the way she has progressed in the past year. I believe that if she keeps working at it and has the right motivation she could go along way with this team.
