GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- As of Wednesday, four of the Grand Valley's best student-athletes are officially on their way to the next level.

Grand Junction's Lacee Kilgore and Spencer Weinberg, along with Fruita Monument's Mallory Paulson and Mariaha O'Dell signed their letters of intent for college on Wednesday.

Kilgore will be traveling the farthest out of the four for her college destination. She intends to play volleyball for the University of Massachusetts in Boston.

Weinberg, a state champion in No. 1 singles in boys' tennis in 2010, intends on playing tennis at Colorado Mesa. And he isn't waiting long to get his college career started. Weinberg says he will enroll at CMU and begin playing on the Mavericks tennis team in spring of 2013.

As for the Fruita Monument softball stars, Paulson and O'Dell will be moving on to play Div. II softball next fall.

Paulson, the SWL's player of the year this past season, will attend Dixie State University in Utah. Paulson was the Wildcats ace in their pitching rotation, but she says she will play infield for Dixie State. She played shortstop during her high school career.

O'Dell will join Weinberg as a member of the Colorado Mesa Mavericks. O'Dell is the first local commit to sign her letter of intent in the new era of CMU softball under new head coach Candace Abrams.
