GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- 17 days of practice and rest have passed, and now the Mavericks - men and women, both - are ready to return to action.

CMU will host RMAC opponents Colorado Christian and Colorado Mines at Browson Arena on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

The Lady Mavs have a lot riding on the line. They haven't lost a game yet this season and a successful weekend could result with CMU breaking into the top ten in next week's national rankings.

As for the men, they looking to put an end to a two game losing skid that has loomed for 17 days.

"We've had a good week-and-a-half of practice [...] so that's always a confidence booster," said Mavs guard, Landon Vermeer.

By looking at the tape, Mike Melillo believes the Mavs defense will fare much better against CCU and Mines than they did in their losses against Fort Lewis and Adams State before the break.

"[CCU and Mines] like to run off screens, [and] not as much dribble penetration, like we've been guarding lately," Melillo remarked.

"We guard that everyday because that's what we like to do," he added, "so I think it will be an easy transition for us."
