Mesa Mavs claim victory in final home game

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - The Mavericks finished out their home schedule with a narrow win over the Western State Mountaineers, but it was no easy task.

The RMAC's top ranked rushing defense came out strong, stopping all offensive efforts from CMU until Trevor DeBraga picked the ball and gave his team the momentum. From there, Deke Cisco ran it in for the first score of the game.

A few more errors from the Mountaineers led to another Mavs touchdown, but by halftime, Western State led the game 16-14.

After a successful field goal from the visiting team, it was do or die for the Mavs, and luckily they made things happen. They brought in a touchdown and held off the Mountaineers, taking the 22-19 victory.
