GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- Colorado Mesa University announced on Thursday the resignation of Athletic Director Butch Miller.

Miller has held the title of CMU AD since July of 2008. Prior to that, he was the Associate AD for the Mavericks from 2003-2008.

Miller's says he is stepping down due to personal health and family reasons.

Given that he has been on leave from the university since the start of the fall semester, CMU coaches told KKCO 11 Sports they were not surprised by Miller's resignation.

"He'll be missed [at CMU]," said Chuck Pipher the head coach of CMU's wrestling team.

"He's got to do what's best for his health and his family, there's no doubt," added Pipher.
