Wow. I am sickened by the negative comments about this baseball team. I will not waste my time by addressing all the lies posted about this team, but I will take my time to address the hatred - as I know some of the boys are reading these comments. These boys are learning character and how to do their best. Sadly, they are learning what jealousy and ignorance look like too. If any of you 12u Monument boys are reading this, be proud of who you are and how far you have come. When you are doing something good and right, you will get noticed in some way. Let the positive comments inspire you and the negative comments fuel you. I don't know how far this team will go (you may not even make it out of districts/state) but it doesn't matter, because you are being taught to always give 100% and be the best you can be on or off the field. This isn't just about baseball, this is an example of life. Keep your head up, keep focused on your goals and don't let ignorance bring you down. Maybe some of these bloggers can come join a practice sometime to learn some honor and character. Let this teach you to not grow up to be a hater. Instead, always use your time and energy to better yourselves and those around you. I am so proud of this team and how far you have come. Most importantly I am proud of who you are. If you never win another game you are champions simply by the character you embrace.

The kids aren't doing anything wrong and are working hard to win. I blame the adults in charge. If it's not illegal by the official rules they are at least unethically skirting boundary rules by putting this team together. It's a pre-selected team (the other Little Leaguer's didn't have a chance in h*ll of making that team) full of a specific competitive team's players. How unfair to the kids that are truly Monument LL players? Makes a joke of the team and the undermines the integrity of the LL system. This truly may be the most ridiculous argument I have ever heard. I am going to go out on a limb here and assume that everyone posting here is an adult. Unfortunately, I would have to say that no one here is acting like it. This seems like an argument that middle school boys would have. Why can't the valley be happy for these boys? They have made the choice to put in the time and effort to become this good and they are being rewarded for their work over the past few years. I understand that you may not be happy that all of the players come from one competitive team, but clearly the travel team is doing something right. Kids with talent want to play with other kids with talent. That is a competitive spirit that drives these kids to work. If you are going to let your jealously get in the way of these kids' goals, then I pity you. Tell me if I am wrong, but trying to get the other team outs because they are struggling is much better than having a score of 70-0 go in the paper. They had to make it four innings and the umpires enlarged the situation. If you have not been to a game, I am not certain that you are getting the whole picture and have any right to be complaining. Complain now, but please join the rest of the valley when the District tourney is over and root for the Western Slope. Let's set a good example for the kids and be positive. There has to be a winner and a loser, but let's be humble winners and proud losers.

I love how Anonymous says how our kids couldn't get off bench, but he was good enough to play. Come on man, you couldn't play for the local softball team. Go back to California we don't need you here in Colorado. I hope Monument does something that no Colorado team has done. I will be cheering for our local boys .

Let's make an important clarification. The Monument All-Star team is a traveling, competitive baseball team that is allowed to compete for Monument little league. Ask the numerous 12 year-old boys from Monument LL that were left off the all-star team because they do not play for the Mavs competitive team how they feel about the selection process. And don't assume that there aren't plenty of players on the other teams in this tournament that don't work hard year round. That deserve this just as much. So just because the Monument LL has crowned themselves, printed shirts that say "NEXT", and assumed that they will be in Waco doesn't mean that there isn't going to be a team that will complete with them and make them earn a win, whether it be in the district tournament or at state.

This is what is wrong with the Grand Valley. I help coach the Monument All-Stars and am proud of it. These kids have committed 9 months a year for 3 years to position themselves to play at the highest level. I heard we couldn't compete at 5A when I took over at GJHS and we WORKED to be ranked #1 in the state. This valley will always have people who won't support the most successful teams and individuals. Others of us don't think it is good enough just to compete with Western Slope, we want more. So bring on Texas, no team from Colorado has ever made it to Williamsport, so we are going to WORK to give it our best attempt. Ask the Bayfield coach, the Tournament Director or the umpire how much class we had it the 44-0 game. We are not going to tell a kid to strike out on purpose, but we did everything we could to assist them in getting outs. We won't apologize for our success, work ethic or desire to do something that has never been done. SO BRING ON TEXAS, we want that opportunity while the rest of Colorado and the Western Slope sits back and watches.

Why would you even say anything about Monument winning a baseball game 44-0. Shows how much class they have. Texas is waiting, so cancel your Williamsport reservations.
