Olympic hopefuls compete in 2012 Grand Junction Invitational Swim Meet

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- Maverick Aquatics hosted the 2012 Grand Junction Invitational Swim Meet and had two competitors hoping to make it to the U.S. Olympic trials.

Swimmers Chris Spriggs and Eric Anderssen competed of Aquawolves have been aiming to get a personal best score in order to make it to the trials in the 100 meter freestyle and the 50 meter freestyle.

Both competed in the finals of the 100 free but came up seconds short of qualifying. And though Anderssen qualified for the trials in the 50 free at a previous meet, he will try for a personal best. Meanwhile his teammate Spriggs will hope to gain a trip to the trials alongside Anderssen in the same event during the finals competition tomorrow evening.

Finals begin at 5 PM at the Maveric Aquatic Center. There is no charge for entry.
