Over 10 SWL athletes earn spot in 2014 State Track and Field Meet

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The Southwestern League varsity track and field meet wrapped up over the weekend with Fruita Monument finishing off the day as league champs, and ten individuals plus relay teams earned an invite to the 5A State Meet.

For the boys, Chuck Bisbee and Jacob Hahn out of Fruita Monument, and Austin Taylor, Michael McKnight and Quinton Walton out of Grand Junction will compete individually.

For the girls, Fruita Monument's Katie Werman, Michaela Hoffman, and Octavia Martinez, and Grand Junction's Madison Marsh and Jill Payne will have a chance at bringing home an individual state title.

Plus Grand Junction girls' 4x100 meter relay and Fruita girl's 4x200 meter relay qualified. The meet starts Thursday, May 15th, and ends Saturday, May 17th.
