GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- Palisade's Luke McLean is returning to the gridiron this fall in hopes of repeating his incredible 2011 season.

Last fall, McLean threw for more than 1,200 yards and added 856 yards on the ground. Overall, he accounted for 31 touchdowns for the Bulldogs during their 10-3 season.

Entering this season, the senior quarterback says he spent additional time working on the conventional aspect of his position - throwing.

"We went to multiple 7-on-7 camps and [events] like that to improve our passing game, so we are a dual-threat [offense] at all times," McLean said on Thursday.

"I just hope he stays healthy," head coach John Arledge said during practice. "He's very physical, he's a leader and he's a wonderful kid to coach because he's humble."

Palisade opens up the season on August 31st against Central.
