Perkins, a Denver-native, enjoying Broncos Training Camp

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- Anthony Perkins has grown up as a Denver Broncos fan, and he was once the starting cornerback for Huron Middle School over KKCO 11 Sports Director Phil Stafford.

Perkins moved onto Northglenn High School as a stud quarterback, and then played his collegiate career at the University of Colorado in Boulder as a defensive back.

He didn't get a call during the NFL Draft in April, but he did attend Broncos Rookie Camp in late spring. "They're message to me was stay in shape and be ready," Perkins said about not signing a contract after Rookie camp. "They all had good things to say about me and they like what I was able to do.

Perkins was on his way down to watch Training Camp on Saturday when he got the call.

"I was a close, easy phone call away," he said after participating in his first day of NFL Training Camp on Saturday.
