GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The Mavs continued their home-stand against Adams State on Saturday with a doubleheader. After taking Friday night's match-up 11-3, a couple wins would be huge for them as they bounce back from a 2-3 road series last weekend.
In the first game, Ryan Reno pitched six shutout innings, improving to 3-0 on the season, and he was backed by some powerful bats. Austin Kaiser went 4-4 with 4 RBI's and a home run, increasing his season average above the .500 mark. Austin Wallingford and Kevin Mitchell each had two hits, as the Mavs win 12-3.
Joey Danner took the mound in the second game, and threw a three-hit complete game shutout, improving his record to 4-2. Tony Audino led the way with three hits and an RBI in CMU's 6-0 shutout.
They'll attempt their fourth series sweep of the season Sunday, when they host ASU again at 12:00 at Suplizio Field.
