GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Colorado Mesa's women's lacrosse team is one of the youngest athletic programs in the system with just three seasons behind them.
To this point they've been a part of the Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association, but now time are changing. As women's lacrosse gains notoriety, the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference is making room for the sport. It will be added to the conference for the 2013-14 school year.
Colorado Mesa, Adams State, Fort Lewis, Regis, Lindenwood, and Rockhurst will all participate in the RMAC games and compete for a conference championship.
Women's lacrosse marks the 22nd sport sponsored by the RMAC. This is the first sport added to the conference since men's and women's swimming and diving in 2008.
